The questions people type about Yarbo, answered with what Yarbo publishes: rain, hills, boundary wire, cameras, noise, towing, acres and more. Where Yarbo gives no figure, we say so.
Last updated: October 2026
Yarbo is a modular yard robot: one self-driving Core that takes a mower, a snow blower, a leaf blower and more. It needs no boundary wire, climbs 70% (35°) slopes when mowing, and works from -13°F to 113°F. Below are the questions people ask most, each answered with Yarbo's own published figures.

On the Y40P Lawn Mower Pro, Yarbo lists rain detection and an IPX6 water rating. Rain detection means the robot knows when it is raining. IPX6 means the module is protected against strong water jets.
A water rating describes what the machine survives, not what is good for the lawn. Mowing soaked grass leaves clumps and ruts with any mower. Let the robot use its rain detection and mow when the grass has dried. Related: can robot lawn mowers cut wet grass?
Yes. Yarbo rates the Core at 70% (35°) for mowing, leaf blowing and trimming. The tracked drive is the reason.
For snow the rating is lower: 36% (20°) for the Snow Blower module. See Yarbo snow blower on hills.
No. Yarbo uses RTK positioning with vision. A base station on your property sends corrections so the robot knows its position precisely, and you draw work areas and no-go zones in the app. Nothing is buried. See RTK vs boundary wire.
Yarbo lists these for positioning and obstacle handling:
| Yarbo figure | Y40 Core | Y40P Core |
|---|---|---|
| Positioning | RTK and stereo vision, IMU | RTK, vision, IMU, odometry |
| Mower obstacle avoidance | Binocular cameras, ultrasonic sensors, bumper | Binocular cameras, ultrasonic sensors, bumper |
| Snow blower obstacle detection | Binocular cameras, bumper | Binocular cameras, bumper |
Yarbo's specifications on file do not list lidar. Navigation is RTK plus cameras.
Yarbo lists the Y40P Core's connectivity as 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi HaLow. The system also uses a Data Center that provides navigation data to the Core and takes HaLow, Bluetooth and RTK antennas.
What Yarbo's product listings do not spell out is exactly which functions need which connection, or the terms of any cellular data service. We will not guess. If your property has weak Wi-Fi at the far end, or you want to know about data plans, ask us and we will get the answer from Yarbo for your setup before you buy.
| Yarbo figure | Y40 Lawn Mower Pro | Y40P Lawn Mower Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Per week, two cuts | Up to 6 acres | About 7 acres |
| Per day | About 1.7 acres | Up to 2 acres |
| Per charge | About 0.25 acre | About 0.3 acre |
| Cutting width | 20 in | 20 in |
| Cutting height | 0.8 to 4 in | 0.8 to 4 in |

Per Yarbo: a two-stage blower with a 24 inch path and 12 inch intake that throws snow 6 to 40 ft and covers up to 6,000 sq ft per charge on the Y40 or 7,000 sq ft on the Y40P in 1 inch of snow. Details in how much snow a robot snow blower can handle.

Yarbo lists the Y40P Core at about 60 dB and describes it as quiet enough for early morning runs. Yarbo does not list a noise figure for the Y40 Core, or for the blower and snow modules running. We leave those out instead of estimating.
Top drive speed is 0.6 m/s on the Y40 and 1.2 m/s on the Y40P. The Y40P uses gearbox-free dual hub motors, which Yarbo describes as faster and steadier with fewer parts to wear, and about 15% more efficient. See Yarbo Y40 vs Y40P.
Yarbo rates the Tow Hitch for 500 lb of yard towing, with tools such as aerators and dethatchers. See Smart Assist Module and Tow Hitch.
The Core returns to its dock by itself. On the Y40, Yarbo lists a 36 V, 38.4 Ah battery that charges from 20 to 80% in 90 minutes. The Docking Station charges wirelessly, about 3 hours from 0 to 100%. Yarbo rates the battery for 500 cycles with 80% capacity retention.
Yarbo's leaf tool is the Leaf Blower module, at 174 mph and 607 CFM. It moves leaves. It does not bag them. See can robot lawn mowers mulch leaves?
Yes. The Remote Controller gives manual control with about 328 ft of line-of-sight range, per Yarbo.
Yarbo's 2-year limited warranty covers the Core and modules, per Yarbo's warranty policy. Yard Automation Pros helps you file and follow up on claims with Yarbo. Core packages ship by free freight.
Some popular searches are about things we cannot verify from Yarbo's published product data: theft protection details, subscription terms, whether it runs at night in your area, where it is made. We do not fill gaps with guesses. Send us the question and we will ask Yarbo and reply by email.
On working at night: the robot navigates by RTK and cameras. Check your local noise rules, and ask us about night operation for your module.
It is worth it for the right property: enough lawn or driveway to justify a robot, more than one season of work for it to do, and an owner willing to spend a day on setup. It is harder to justify for a small flat lot with one job. Our reviews go deeper: Lawn Mower Pro review and Snow Blower Module review.

Yarbo lists rain detection and an IPX6 rating on the Y40P Lawn Mower Pro. For the lawn's sake, mow once the grass has dried.
No. It uses RTK positioning and vision, and you set work areas in the app.
70%, or 35 degrees, for mowing, leaf blowing and trimming. The Snow Blower module is rated for 36%, or 20 degrees.
Yarbo lists the Y40P Core at about 60 dB. It does not list a figure for the Y40 Core.
Up to 6 acres a week on the Y40 and about 7 on the Y40P, at two cuts a week, per Yarbo.
Yarbo's specifications on file list RTK, vision, IMU and, on the Y40P, odometry. They do not list lidar.
