A Yarbo's battery life depends on the module, the job and the weather. Here are Yarbo's runtime and charging figures, how cold affects them, and how to look after the battery for years.
Last updated: November 2026
Per charge, a Yarbo runs for about two hours of mowing with the Lawn Mower Pro module, and clears up to 6,000 square feet of 1-inch snow on the Y40 Core (7,000 on the Y40P) with the Snow Blower module, per Yarbo. It recharges from 20 to 80% in about 90 minutes and returns to its dock on its own when the battery is low. Over the years, a battery's capacity slowly declines with use; good charging and storage habits slow that down.

"How long does the Yarbo battery last?" is one of the top autocomplete questions about Yarbo. It has two meanings: how long per charge, and how many years. We cover both.
Per Yarbo, the Y40 Core uses a 36 V, 38.4 Ah battery. A replacement Yarbo 38.4Ah battery is sold separately. The Core charges wirelessly at its docking station and returns there by itself when it needs charge.
| Module | Per charge, per Yarbo |
|---|---|
| Lawn Mower Pro | 120 min mowing; 0.25 acre on Y40, 0.3 acre on Y40P (20 to 80% charge) |
| Snow Blower | Up to 6,000 sq ft on Y40, 7,000 on Y40P, at 1 in of snow |
| Leaf Blower | Varies with leaf load and area |
These are the maker's figures for typical conditions. Real runtime depends on:
Yarbo quotes about 90 minutes to charge the Y40 Core from 20 to 80%. The robot is designed to work in that range: when it gets low, it docks, charges, and goes back to finish the job. One owner on X described exactly this during a snow run, with the robot heading back out once it reached about 80%.
Yarbo rates the Core and modules to operate from -13°F to 113°F. Within that range, the robot works, but in deep cold you get less area per charge. Practical tips:

Every lithium battery loses capacity over charge cycles and years. Yarbo does not publish a cycle rating in the listings on file. What you can rely on:
Our how long do robot mowers and pool robots last post covers lifespans across brands.
Check that the dock has power, the robot is lined up on the dock, the charging area is clean and dry, and the robot has the latest firmware. Our troubleshooting post robot mower won't dock or won't charge walks through each step. If it still will not charge, call us at +1 423-927-3776, 9am to 5pm EST.
The Y40P Core uses gearbox-free hub motors that Yarbo rates about 15% more efficient than the Y40, which gives it more area per charge: 7,000 square feet of snow against 6,000, and 0.3 acre of mowing against 0.25, per Yarbo. See Y40 vs Y40P.
Most owners do not need one, because the robot recharges itself and continues. A spare can make sense on very large properties where you want fewer recharge breaks, or as a replacement later in the robot's life.
Three jobs drain a battery fastest:
Wind and very low temperatures add to the load. None of this harms the battery, but it means fewer square feet per charge and more trips to the dock.
The app shows the charge level and whether the robot is working, returning or charging. If it keeps returning to the dock far earlier than usual in mild weather, check the dock contacts, update the firmware and contact support, because a sudden drop can point to a fault covered by the warranty.

Per Yarbo, about 120 minutes of mowing with the Lawn Mower Pro, or up to 6,000 square feet of 1 inch snow on the Y40 Core and 7,000 on the Y40P with the Snow Blower module.
Yarbo quotes about 90 minutes to charge the Y40 Core from 20 to 80 percent.
The Core charges wirelessly at its docking station and returns there on its own when the battery is low.
Cold reduces battery output, so you get less area per charge in deep cold. Yarbo rates the robot to operate from minus 13 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit.
Yes. The Yarbo 38.4Ah battery is sold as a separate part.
Yarbo gives a 2-year limited warranty on the Core and modules. We help you file and follow up on claims with Yarbo.
Per Yarbo, the Y40P is about 15 percent more efficient and covers 7,000 square feet of snow per charge against 6,000 on the Y40.
